I received this a couple of days ago from dolph1n/Viv. Will add another JE when I have finished reading it with nieces, and then will pass it on accordingly.

RELEASE NOTES:

My nieces and I really enjoyed this book, the girls especially loved the matching words like Dolly and Polly, the twins, Harriet the Handbag, Ulrick the Umbrella and Walter the Walking Stick. There were a few words that the children (aged 10 and 11) didn't understand, like the referral to the 'mackintoshes', 'vigorously, and 'Seamus the Shillelagh', but all in all, an enjoyable read for all of us. Thank you for including us on the ring - I've contacted PurpleElephant and the book is going to be mailed to Mandy today!
Hope you enjoy it!

Thank you ever so much Birmingham-rose for sending recorded delivery. It meant that the postie had to bring up the rest of the post too!
Will read with my 5 yr old over the next couple of days.

Moving to my daughter's new bookshelf.

We have now finished this book and we both really enjoyed it. The pictures are line-drawn and simple with no bright colours to distract from the text.
The stories were simple and charming and in style and humour reminded me very much of the old Paddington Bear stories. They could be set in any time and place.
PurpleTapirGirl particularly liked the story where Sam gets lost, it provoked a discussion about the lost property at her school.
We would love to hear of any more stories in this series.
To be passed on to Clairemagnolia.

My mum read these stories aloud to me, I think she enjoyed them more than I did, but I did listen. I liked the idea of a suitcase having thoughts, feelings and conversations with other articles, but I prefer stories with more pictures, preferably of rockets. I'm only four and a half, you see.

This book will soon be on its way to Chelseagirl.

I am SO sorry for having had this so long ..... it came at just the wrong time, shortly before Xmas, and life has been really busy since. I'm not normally so rotten a bookcrosser, honestly .....

Anyway, I finally got round to reading this today but unfortunately couldn't persuade my son to listen - he's in an anti-book phase at the moment (unless it's Horrid Henry or the Guinness Book of Records).

I thought they were lovely stories, if a little too gentle for my tastes - I guess even as a child I liked something with a little more action. The characters were endearing and the simple illustrations broke up the text without detracting from it.

Thanks for including me on this ring and again, I'm really sorry for holding on to this so long.
