This is another one I had to read for uni. Although the story is great, I found it a little hard to read because it's one long continuous narrative - not broken up into chapters.

From fantasticfiction.co.uk:

Past, present and future are brought together one day in June 1923. Clarissa Dalloway prepares for her party, remembering those she once loved. In another part of London, Septimus Smith is on the brink of madness. His day interweaves with Clarissa's.

I took this away with me on a trip to the UK over Xmas, intending to read and release whilst I was there. However, while I started reading it there ( towards the end of my trip) I didn't finish it til the plane ride home - hence I'll be releasing it today at the January Perth BC Meetup.

I'll never forget the rush I had, though, of opening the book up to the map of central London in the 20s whilst having lunch in Covent Garden and realising I was actually on there!! It was great to be reading this whilst staying in central London, marvelling how much of the city has changed. I loved the stream of consciousness approach that Woolf has used - and indeed invented in this novel. As mentioned in the intro, the style has a real cinematic quality and it definitely worked for me. Very absorbing all round
