Although I hardly consider Turkey an Islamic country, this book delves into that very real aspect of the Turkish culture. I believe the author was threatened with jail for defame Islam and Turkey in this book, but the international outcry was such, the law suit was quietly dropped. It is so difficult for the Western, Christian mind to understand Islamic values and while this book does it's best to explain them, most Western readers, will find that while it might be explained, it can never truly be understood and accepted by a rational mind. Religious gobbley-gook, in whatever terms it is couched in, remains just the same.
