Either way, I hope you'll make a journal entry so all previous and future readers can track this book's journey. Happy reading and Happy BookCrossing!

=================================

An un-birthday present from my dad. :0)

From the introduction:
"What do ABBA, The Franklin Mint, Gilligan's Island, Spam, Wayne Newton, White Castle hamburgers, and the song "You Light Up My Life" have in common? Surprisingly, not one but two things. The first, and most obvious, is the fact that discussing them in public inevitably triggers condescending smiles and derisive giggles.

The second is that, in spite of those smiles and giggles, all are (or were) wildly popular.

Finally, a few words of clarification: Just because this book names something as a guilty pleasure doesn't necessarily mean we think that you should stop doing it (not that we would ever think you were doing it). After all, you're an adult (we assume) who's earned the right to act how you want, when you want. So if that means watching movies about women in prison (page 217) while sitting in your Barcalounger (page 21) drinking Mountain Dew (page 180) and eating jerky (page 137), that's fine by us. Or, more to the point, it's none of our business."

What a fun book!! Oddly accurate, brief descriptions, like an expanded "book of lists." I laughed out loud in several places and had to read various entries to my family members. And yes, I "hate to love" waaaaay too many of the entries in this entertaining volume. Guilty as charged. ;0)

I thought reading this book was almost like watching a flashback of my entire life; watching Saturday morning cartoons and eatting "Captain Crunch" (which was my all time favorite cereal/junk food) while my parents were "doing it" in their bedroom - knowing the do not disturb unless the house is on fire rule, getting smashed on Boones Farm Strawberry wine in high school, seeing the Bee Gees live at the Orange Bowl during The Saturday Night Fever/disco phase, (refuse to mention the all time embarrassing moments - which is how the book lost a few points with me) etc.

Sending off to Tammy Savola. Hope you have as many laughs as I did!
