Got the perfectly behaved teenager? Do you know what's going on in their minds? This book gave me the creeps, but it is so well written that despite the unpleasantness of the story I was compelled to keep turning the pages. In fact I stayed up late to finish it.

Picked this up at the last Chelmsford meeting. Should have journalled sooner, but wasn't sure if I'd hang on to the book or pass it to Coggeshall or Ipswich. I would like to read it though, and next week may give me the perfect opportunity!

Finally got round to picking this one up and glad I did because I was riveted by the story - a real page turner, as Booktwitcher says.

Being me, I believed in Chris's story right from the start, but then Picoult feeds out little twists and turns, which keep you in suspense right to the end. It's got something for everyone - childhood sweetheart love story (though taken to extreme perhaps!), best buddies pushed past the limits of friendship, a view of life in jail, courtroom drama etc etc.

The book isn't quite as long as it seems - there's a reading guide, interview with author (interesting!), and chapter one from another book. I didn't realise this until I finished the epilogue and was disappointed because I wanted MORE! Particularly; did Melanie Gold accept Chris's 'truth'?

My one problem early in the book was remembering which parents went with which child. And which wife went with which husband. But got the hang of it eventually!

Will definitely be searching for more Picoult to read. (Didn't realise she'd written so many books, so look forward to trying them.)
