Light Sci-Fi/Fantasy book about human and demon interaction.

I see my book has made it it Isreal. It is amazing how that sucker can travel places I have yet to be. I'm jealous. Can I come visit?

This has been my best release and I think that is because of Tracy. I'm glad that so many have enjoyed the book.

Journal Entry 2 by tracyshannon from El Paso, Texas USA on Thursday, October 26, 2006
Wow! What a fantastic surprise! Not only did Grifonlestrange send me this book by my request, he included six (!) other books that are all the sort that I like. Bonus: I've never read any of them before! What are the odds?

Thank you so much Jim!

Excellent book! I devoured it in two days. :)

Quote from dust jacket flap: "You'll have power. You'll be immortal. But there's a Catch--and he eats people."

Waiting for me when I got home this evening. Thank you TracyShannon, looking forward to reading it.

Journal Entry 7 by platypussj from Colchester, Essex United Kingdom on Friday, December 15, 2006
The thing about comic fantasy is that there are no rules, your characters can do anything you want them to. I found this book very funny and a welcome relief. Despite Catch's disposition to feed from human flesh I found him a likeable chap. I would have liked to have seen a little more of HP, maybe he'll turn up in another story somewhere else - I suspect he has a tale all his own...

NB Couldn't help smiling to myself when I realised that I'd been reading it in the waiting room at the vets when I took my cat in last week, he can be a little devil at times!! Shame, but I don't think anyone noticed.

Will send to Vamperstein8782 over the next couple of days.

Journal Entry 8 by platypussj from Colchester, Essex United Kingdom on Tuesday, February 6, 2007
I'm ashamed to say it took me somewhat more than a couple of days to get this in the post - would have taken far less time to hand deliver it. I am sorry to delay the book so early in its travels - lets just say I've had a demon or two of my own recently.

Journal Entry 9 by rem_AMJ-898913 on Thursday, February 8, 2007
Arrived safely yesterday... and have already started reading (well, I was intrigued by Tim Cahill's comment on the back; "Okay, Stephen King, Douglas Adams and H.P. Lovecraft go to a Frank Capra movie (It's a Wonderful Life). Thus inspired they write a book entitled Practical Demonkeeping. That's my theory." How could I leave the book languishing on my TBR pile after reading that?)

And thank you platypussj for the yummy chocolate... such a lovely accompaniment for a good book :)

Journal Entry 10 by rem_AMJ-898913 on Monday, February 12, 2007
Wow, what a great book! As fantastically funny as the cover makes out.

Will be sending on as soon as I have an address for marko167

Received abou a week ago and forgot to journal. Apologies.

Journal Entry 12 by marko167 from Sitges, Barcelona Spain on Monday, March 5, 2007
A good fun book, reminded me very much of Anonymous Rex.

The narrative was easy and quick to read, dark humour found on every page with absolutely fantastic insults thrown by the King of the Djinns. ‘I have seen more intelligence in the crotch lice of a harem of whores’ is my favorite, I will definitely be using this soon… although should probably leave it out of business communication.

Thanks for sharing.

Off it flies to Israel. Bon voyage.

Journal Entry 14 by yberry from Beer Sheva, Southern Israel on Thursday, March 29, 2007
Just picked it up from the post office. I think this book will be doing double duty here, because it looks like one of those rare gems that my husband would also enjoy.
Looking forward to a good read...

Journal Entry 15 by yberry from Beer Sheva, Southern Israel on Friday, May 18, 2007
A good, kooky read that came just in time for me. I did feel that the end could be better, but you know what they say - those who can't, criticize.

I hope it brings everybody else at least as much fun as it did for me.

So now it's in the mail, on the way to the US. Wishing Catch and all a safe trip (or should I wish whoever it ends up travelling with to stay safe?!)...

Journal Entry 16 by LyekkaMarengo from Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania USA on Sunday, June 3, 2007
Arrived yesterday safe and sound in Central, PA, USA. I love Christopher Moore and can't wait to get to this one.

Journal Entry 17 by LyekkaMarengo from Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania USA on Monday, July 9, 2007
Well, nobody does bizarre like Chrisopher Moore. I love him and I have a feeling that you either love or hate his books. You have to be willing to abandon all hope of logic or reason and just go with it. This one has demons that are invisible unless in eating mode, at which time you really don't want to see them. Demon hunting djinn on a mission, and lots or ordinary people being caught up in events that are just way beyond their capacity to imagine. Pine Cove is a town that on a good day would be way boring to visit but on a Christopher Moore day would take your breath away. Did I mention that nobody does slam-bang catch your breath ending like Moore either? Loved it, looking forward to finishing out my collection of his books.

This on is moving on to blackadder75 in Lebanon, PA, probably tomorrow.

Journal Entry 18 by blackadder75 from Lebanon, Pennsylvania USA on Friday, July 20, 2007
Got this in today's mail. I will be starting it over the weekend.

Journal Entry 19 by blackadder75 from Lebanon, Pennsylvania USA on Friday, July 27, 2007
Great read! This is not my typical book to read, but I'm glad that I did. It had a kooky and fun plot. The characters were great and easy to relate to. I will be pming that next person on the list.

This book actually arrived here on Friday, but for some unknown reason, bookcrossing wouldn''t allow me to journal! Seems fine now, tho, so I wanted to let you all know it is safe in my hands (thanks for sharin'' this one TracyShannon - I''ve been wanting to try Moore for years!) and I will journal again as soon as it''s read.

Journal Entry 22 by Maurean from Atlantic Beach, Florida USA on Wednesday, August 15, 2007
This was alot of fun! My first read of Christopher Moore; I see now why others rave about him so...

Thanks so much for sharing this, TracyShannon, and as I've already rec'd sarradee's addy, I will send this along on my next PO run. on its way to sarradee in today's (8/17) mail.

Journal Entry 23 by sarradee from Mansfield, Texas USA on Monday, August 27, 2007
This arrived middle of last week. The journal function wasn't working properly the day it arrived, and then I simply forgot about it. I'm still in the middle of another book, but I'll get to reading Demonkeeping asap. I'll journal again when I've finished.

Journal Entry 24 by sarradee from Mansfield, Texas USA on Wednesday, September 12, 2007
I can tell this is one of Moore's earlier works, it doesn't have the polish that later books do. Entertaining nonetheless, and just as kooky and quirky as can be. Thank you for letting me join your ray. Just waiting on an address so I can pass it on.

09-14-07 Mailed to donduckandy.

Read this book in a day, good and fast reading. Keeps you devouring it. I'm not into fantasy much, but this was good. Recommended by blackadder75. Waiting for a mail address to send Catch on his way to Rrrcaron. Have fun with this book!

Journal Entry 27 by Rrrcaron from Lancaster, New Hampshire USA on Sunday, September 30, 2007
I received this book in the mail on Thursday, but haven't had the chance to journal it until now. Sorry for the delay. I have a few to read beforehand. Hopefully it won't take too long.

Journal Entry 28 by Rrrcaron from Lancaster, New Hampshire USA on Wednesday, January 23, 2008
What a fun read this was! I wasn't so sure when at the beginning all that was left of Breeze was his sneaker with his foot still in it, but if you could overlook the fact that Catch ate humans, the rest was wonderful! Sorry I held the book so long, but it's moving again now!

I really liked this story! :)
Fluke didn't grab me and I didn't even finish it.
But this one I really enjoyed reading.
Thanks for introducing me to Catch, the Djinn and all the others! ;)

I will pass this on the next days; I already received the next address.

Journal Entry 36 by AgnesXNitt from Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire United Kingdom on Monday, September 8, 2008
Received on Thursday, and thanks for posting it on Mary-T :)
Due to long Swing Band rehearsal on Thursday night, I was able to make a serious start on this and finish it on Friday night at home.
An interesting one,not that light IMHO, more a darker version of Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaimen's 'Good Omens' I thought.
Still,it was okay and I don't regret reading it.
Thanks for hosting Tracy!
I'm PM'ing Plum-Crazy and hope to get this on it's travels again later this week.

Well, I have to say that in the early chapters I nearly gave up on this book but I'd keep coming across a line that made me smile & before I knew it I'd finished it!

I liked the quirky characters & wouldn't be adverse to reading more by this author. This copy will be moving on next week....be careful though, it looks like Catch might have been having a nibble of it :o)

Managed to finish the book last week, but was not at the computer this weekend, so only now the entry.
I liked the book, but was not overly excited about the demon having that strange habit of his...
But the humour of the book was really great and it was worth the read, don't think I would have done it without this ring though (you should see the tower of books that I should be reading next...)

Will try to contact the next person still today!
