Across the Nightingale Floor (Tales of the Otori S.)
8 journalers for this copy...
Thanks so much Mummafour - you've really made my day. And - I think I'll have a few more local BookCrossers interested in this book too.
The session was really interesting, especially to find that the author is a pseudonym for Gillian Rubenstein who writes children's books!
As well as the 3 books in the trilogy, she has just released a 4th book which "ties up the loose ends" from the trilogy, and written a 5th book which precedes the triogy - not to be released for a while yet.
The rights to make a movie of the trilogy have been bought, and a Japanese director appointed and script written for the 1st book (this one), so we may send the story on screen in the future.
This is an interesting book to try and cofine to a genre - I've seen it in bookshops and BookCrossing journals as anything from literature/fiction to historical fiction to Fantasy to Science Fiction to Childrens/Youth books. Whatever it is, it's a damned good read!
Looks like I'll have to keep an eye out for the the rest of the books in the series now!
Thanks again for the book Mummafour. I'll pass this on to anther appreciative reader who has the book on their wishlist.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
posting off to xoddam today!
This was a good fun YA-oriented coming-of-age story. To think I joined it for the sake of Prue Theroux, the cool librarian! There's only a single plot twist I didn't like, but for all I know the author manages to justify it in the sequels.
Across the Nightingale Floor is definitely a page-turner, good fun to read in quick succession after watching a bunch of historical Japanese movies (no not manga) and recently reading Memoirs of a Geisha. It seems that the sequels were travelling with it, and I'd like to read them now (I'd knock them over in no time) but I seem not to have joined those bookrings in the first place so it may be I've missed out now and messed up the sequence for the other readers. I'm hunting them down via piemunga's bookshelf now, in case I can avert disaster :-) Actually, if I don't succeed, I might go out and buy the lot and give them to a nephew of mine who devours this kind of thing (I hear he is *almost* tired of rereading Harry Potter books 1-4).
I've PM'd sunny27 and hope to have an address shortly.
A reminder -- this is travelling together with Grass for His Pillow and Brilliance of the Moon. Do try to send all three when you're done!
I've moved on to the second book now, which is just as good but has a different quality about it. Perhaps it's the perspective of the characters that has changed and the writing is reflective of that.
Anyway, I'm so pleased to have joined this ring and particularly grateful to have the trilogy to read back to back. In the interest of keeping the ring moving, I'm going to contact the next person on the list and give them the option of starting the first one now and recieving the others later.
Contacting aleonblue to send it back home.
