Found this on the Bookcrossing shelf at the Nags Head in Walthamstow. It looks pretty interesting, so I thought I'd pick it up, register it and release it back there once I'm done with it.

This was a pleasant surprise. It turned out to be a pretty entertaining detective story flitting between London during the Blitz and (roughly) the present. The parts set in the Blitz were especially good. It seemed really well researched and did manage to bring the mood of that time to life - at least for me. The characters were great too. A pair of detectives called Bryant and May, and, unusually for a detective story, it didn't rely on the tired cliche of opposites forced to work together eventually reaching mutual respect. Not earth-shattering, but certainly worth a read.

Picked this up at Walthamstow Meet this week. I already have another Christopher Fowler book - Seventy Seven Clocks - on my TBR pile. Both look interesting. Blurb on back reminds me a bit of Jasper Fforde books. Look forward to reading soon.
