Teacher Jim Ironheart, aptly named, is sent by forces unknown to save chosen people in life-threatening situations. By chance, a young but jaded reporter stumbles onto his missions, and joins him to investigate who is controlling him and why. Shared nightmares begin to point to an extraterrestrial influence, and the pair are forced to confront Ironheart's forgotten past for answers.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

ETA:

I never realized that I didn't do a JE on this book after I read it. I finished it about a month ago. I was really disappointed with Koontz with this one: it was so predictable - you just knew that Jim and Holly were going to end up together and that everyone was going to survive in the end. The book could have been pared down about 200 pages and not lost a thing; Koontz's descriptions of towns and buildings and hairstyles and clothes are enough to make you want to scream - they're that detailed and boring (and add nothing to the story). The explanation that it was Jim himself who was manifesting the evil entity because of a movie filmed locally that sunk into his sub-conscious when he was just a boy was very lame and hard to swallow. It seems like Koontz had an idea for a book with a dumb ending but didn't know how to stretch it for 400+ pages. The whole thing was rather insulting to the reader's intelligence - sure wish I could write a lackluster book like this and earn royalties for it, LOL!
