This was a free book (another one) because we purchased another book from 'The 2006 Books Alive Great Read Guide'. Sending out as an extra with a RABCK.

FROM THE BOOK:
'Sylvie has always been the odd one out in her family. Her mother is a celebrated artist, known for her bohemian lifestyle. Her father, long estranged from the family, is a respected poet and academic. Sylvie's two beautiful sisters and her big brother are also making their mark in the design world.

Sylvie hasn't an artistic bone in her body. On the verge of turning thirty, back living in the family home in Sydney and working for her mother and sisters, she feels stuck in a major rut.

Then her brother Sebastian steps in with a rescue plan. He offers her a room in his Melbourne apartment for as long as she likes, on one condition. In an updated version of a treasure hunting game they played as children, she has to follow his instructions and go exploring the city.

Within days, she's doing things she's never done before, going to places she's never been and beginning to think of ideas for a new career. She is also getting to know a very lonely man. Life is looking up.

Then Sebastian reveals one final challenge...'

Aha. An Aussie chick-lit RABCK. I'll read this (sometime) and pass it on in some constructive way or another :-)

A fantastic book to read, so much so that it was a 24 hour turnaround read :)

BTW - I wonder if Mill's household hints actually work... curiosity has caught the better of me and will most likely try one :)

I lent this to a workmate and got it back astonishingly quickly. I'd have let her keep it, but she thinks I should read it myself, so (eventually) I will. :-)

I spotted this on piemunga's wishlist so it's off to her today with The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, which she's been waiting for forever.

I read Odd One Out in a couple of hours. It's genre-perfect chick lit, sweet, funny, not too soppy (thank goodness -- I feared the worst at one point). Nothing profound, but maybe I learned something regardless :-)

Just picked this out of the surprise book bag! Looks like a good little read so I'm adding it to my TBR pile :-)

This was a quick little read - over in a night. Milly is a little wet, and her sisters particularly are just a little bit *too* awful to ring true, but it was nice to read a bit of chicklit set in Australia (Sydney and Melbourne. And, surprisingly, the ending wasn't as *completely* obvious as I thought it was going to be!! :-)

Off now to trystja as part of the VBB Oz: http://vbboz.blogspot.com.

Hope you enjoy it!! :-)

I realised that this hadn't been logged in! Sorry. I really enjoyed this book, devoured it as soon as it arrived. Monica McInerney just seems to write in such a way that it is so easy to read. I don't think I have read a book of hers I haven't enjoyed. Sorry I took so long to check this in!
