FROM THE PUBLISHER
Click your heels three times and say,
"There's no place like Bloomies!"

Katie Chandler's life is pure magic- literally. As an executive assistant at Magic, Spells, and Illusions, Inc., she's seen more than her share of fantastical occurrences. A mere Manhattan mortal, Katie is no wizard, but she's a wiz at exposing "hokum" pocus, cloaked lies, and deceptive enchantments. And she's fallen under the all-too-human spell of attraction to Owen, a hunky wizard and coworker. Owen, however, is preoccupied. Someone has broken into his office and disrupted top-secret files, and it reeks of an inside job. CEO Merlin (yes, the Merlin) and taps Katie and her special ability to uncover the magical mole.

Keeping her feelings in check while sleuthing alongside Owen, Katie is shocked to discover that her immunity to magic is waning, putting her in grave danger. Soon she's surrendering to the charms and enchantments of everyone and everything around her, including a killer pair of red stilettos. Katie must now conjure up her natural instincts to get to the bottom of the break-in, regain her power, and win the wizard of her dreams.

I may have read the book out of order (Enchanted, Inc. comes before this and I don't even have that on Mount TBR much less have I read it), but I didn't feel that I was missing out on too much by starting with this book (though I will go back and read the first one eventually). And this book was great. It just made me feel really good while reading it, and the ending still has me smiling. In fact, all I'm thinking about is how happy and content I am with the book rather than any deeper thoughts about it.

Journal Entry 5 by Kyrissaean from Littleton, New Hampshire USA on Friday, January 19, 2007
Yay! This arrived today! I loved the first book in this series, so I can't wait to jump into this one!

Journal Entry 6 by Kyrissaean from Littleton, New Hampshire USA on Wednesday, February 7, 2007
I just finished this, and I'm still grinning! Excellent ending! I can't wait for the next book to come out!

This wasn't quite as instantly hook-y as Enchanted, Inc., probably because there was a little less emphasis on cute & quirky magical stuff, but it didn't take long to reel me in once I finally got a moment to actually sit down and read it! It's so much fun to think about this little world. New York would be about a thousand times more interesting if there was a chance of running into a living garden gnome in Central Park, that's for sure!

If my owl takes much longer to show up with my invitation to Hogwarts, then maybe I should go apply for a position at MSI. An administrative assistant job there somehow sounds like a dream job!

Reading back over this review, I haven't said a thing about the plot, the writing, or anything -- it's all about just wanting to literally jump into the story. Well now, that says something about the book, doesn't it?

I'm PMing Nursie now....

Journal Entry 7 by Kyrissaean from Littleton, New Hampshire USA on Friday, February 9, 2007

Journal Entry 15 by midwinter from Tucson, Arizona USA on Friday, June 22, 2007
Ack! Sorry for hanging on to this for so long. It was supossed to be mailed before my conference last week, but I didn't quite make it. Off to mellonhead today, I promise!
I'm still totally in love with this series, and so happy things turned out the way they did in this book. Love the magical take on the holiday season, and I thought ...well, everything that happened between pages 1 and the end... was a unique twist on what could have been a very cliched story. Can't wait to read more!

Journal Entry 16 by mellonhead from Austin, Texas USA on Monday, August 13, 2007
I have to apologize to everyone, but especially ladiibbug for not responding to your PMs. I''ve been overwhelmed with a new job and moving. I am very excited to read this one. I loved the first book and I can''t wait. I''m in the middle of another bookring book, though. It''s next on my list to read.

Journal Entry 17 by mellonhead from Austin, Texas USA on Sunday, August 19, 2007
I liked this one, but not as much as the first one. It's a very fun story and with fun characters. I'm a little over the self-deprecating "ordinary, boring girl from Texas" theme. I can't wait to read more about her and hunky Owen, though. Is there another book, yet?

I've pmd mapleflowers.

9/10 Update - Oops, I've held on to this longer than I intended. It will be off tomorrow.

Journal Entry 18 by MaplesFlowers from Nashville, Tennessee USA on Tuesday, September 18, 2007
Rec'd this weekend. My daughter and I will enjoy reading both this book and the 3rd book. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

Journal Entry 19 by MaplesFlowers from Nashville, Tennessee USA on Tuesday, November 6, 2007
I enjoyed this book as much as the 1st book. Thanks to Teri for sharing it. Unfortunately, this book got a wee bit of a bath while saving me from drowning one night, and I have already apologized to Teri for the damage. A few pages were water logged but have dried and are fine now except for a bit of wrinkling.

Long story short, I was relaxing in the bath while reading this book one evening. My doctor had just started me on Ambien CR and I didn't realize how quickly it would hit me. One moment I was reading, the next, I was being woken up by the sound of a big splash!!! Dropping the book & being startled by the sound most likely saved my life!! LOL So I do apologize to everyone else in line to read the book for the damage I caused to it. It was a great book tho, and it was not the book's fault that I fell asleep while reading it! Off to Needsun tomorrow!!

Journal Entry 20 by NeedSun from Perth Road, Ontario Canada on Monday, December 3, 2007
YAY! This book arrived today along with Blood Bound. I am so looking forward to both of them. Thanks very much, Maplesflowers, for sending them to me.

Hopefully, I can get to them soon. I do have a few bookrings in front of them and with Christmas fast approaching, I am swamped with knitting to get finished in time.

Journal Entry 21 by NeedSun from Perth Road, Ontario Canada on Monday, January 21, 2008
I have to admit, I liked the first one better. This book seemed to drag in places with not very much action. I did like meeting Katie's family and hopefully, there are more books in this series with her parents involvement.

I will be mailing this book out this week. I amready have the next address.

Thank you very much for your patience in allowing me to keep the book a little longer than the rules state.

Edit Jan 26: This book was sent by surface mail today.

Love this series. I can't wait for the next one. On it's way to Macewoman as part of the book ray.

Journal Entry 24 by macewoman from Winston Salem, North Carolina USA on Thursday, March 20, 2008
Arrived today, but I've got a few rings/rays to read before I can start it. I've been so sick with flu and now pneumonia that I haven't gotten much reading done recently. But I'm now going to try better living through chemistry (antibiotics) and see if I can't rejoin the land of the living. I'll get this read and be back with a JE.

Journal Entry 25 by macewoman from Winston Salem, North Carolina USA on Sunday, May 11, 2008
It took me a little while to find time to sit down and read this one. It was also slower than the first to get me hooked, but it finally happened. I managed to finish it and I liked the ending. I'm not sure how many more she can write in this series and keep the interest though.
Thanks for sharing this and being so patient with me.
I'm awaiting an address for the next reader and I'll send it on then.

Journal Entry 26 by macewoman from Winston Salem, North Carolina USA on Monday, June 2, 2008
Yeah, cowgirl-up finally received a message about this book. Not getting PMs is a pain in the rear. Luckily some folks saw the ISO and contacted her through other means. I have her address and this will be going out in the next couple of days.

Journal Entry 28 by cowgirl-up from Springfield, Ohio USA on Monday, August 11, 2008
Not quite as good as the first book in the series, but still very enjoyable. The ending was exactly what I'd hoped for. Can't wait to continue with the series!

I've PMed Three104 and will get this out as soon as I have an address.

Journal Entry 31 by ThreeSixNine from Catawba, Wisconsin USA on Friday, October 17, 2008
I spotted the poor thing sitting in a stack of books on my table and thought oops! It was a quick read, even for me, whose reading has taken a definite dip. I didn't have much interest in it at first, but I did enjoy it. I liked meeting Katie's mom and dad (incidentally, my sister and her husbands' names are Lois and Frank! lol). I especially liked Owen. There was no real mystery though. I do have the next book sitting on my shelf and will reading it soon.

Off to the next reader, if I can find the addy.

Journal Entry 32 by CharmedKim from Secaucus, New Jersey USA on Sunday, October 26, 2008

ETA 2/3/09: I'm sorry I kept this book for so long. I just couldn't get into this one, as much as I enjoyed the first in the series. I mailed this to sunlightbub on 1/28/09.

Journal Entry 34 by Sunnybubble from Wallasey, Merseyside United Kingdom on Monday, February 23, 2009
THis one came on holiday with me to Spain last week!
I enjoyed it but found it quite slow going given the light weight premise. I kept rereading the same passages..perhaps I was just too easily distracted bu the sunshine!
I've got a couple of other books for Candy too so these are all going in the mail tomorrow.

Journal Entry 35 by CandyDarling from Helsinki, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Tuesday, March 31, 2009

I just finished Once Upon Stilettos, and it left a smile on my face. I think I liked it even better than the previous book. I've been having some trouble getting into reading lately, but this book just sucked me in. :)

This was a lovely, romantic story with wonderful characters. Perfect light reading.

Thank you for including me in the this ray, ladiibbug! The book will continue it's journey to Ireland as soon as I have Wyvernfriend's address.
