Book Description
A fun, witty, sexy, page-turning novel written by a real-life, high-priced Manhattan call girl.
Synopsis
A fun, witty, sexy, page-turning novel written by a real-life, high-priced Manhattan call girl. This is the diary of Nancy Chan, busy career girl, in her thirties, newly engaged and trying to balance job and romance. But Nancy is a high-class call girl, a fact her banker fiance, Matt does not know (he thinks she's a copy editor) and Nancy wants to keep it that way. With one foot in the bedrooms of her rich and demanding clients and one in the world of her fiance and his family, Nancy demonstrates, in her inimitable fashion, that if you know the dance, you can keep those two worlds from colliding. At least for a while. This wonderfully intelligent, sexually frank, rollicking novel gives us fresh insight into the machinations and politics of being an expensive call girl in the modern world. Quan pulls no punches, gives no apologies, and has written one of the best and most honest books yet on the topic.

Hi, I finished this today, I found it really patchy to be honest. It was an insight into a world i know nothing about, so I was interested to see what it was like. I really liked the main character Nancy, but I found her friend Allie extremely irritating and the NYCOT sub plot unnecessary. I also thought some of the characters like Matt and Elspeth were very two dimensional. In some ways I think Quan has glamourised the work of the call girls in Manhattan and made it very Sex and The City, whereas this probably isn't the experience of the average Manhattan hooker. That said it is very readable and I would probably read the next one if there was a bookring or ray out there, but I wouldn't be so desparate to know that I would buy it.
This will go to the next one in the ring once I get their address.
PS I havent been able to get a postcard, but I'll send you one once I do!

Ok, I've read the book. Finally... Sorry BOKWORMY that you had to wait a bit. I sort of enjoyed it, but it was quite easy to also forget. Meaning it wasn't one of those books you just can't put away. It was much more, um, should I say intime that I expected. Because my reading time is quite limited at the moment I was reading it at work during lunch, at busses and trains and when queuing at health care center. I always took it with me so I could read if I just had that few minutes, so this travelling book has certainly travelled through Helsinki. :)
On Monday it'll start it's next journey as I'll drop it off to post center for BOKWORMY. I like your name.. :D
Thanks Angellica for sharing!

The book arrived this weekend. I can't wait to read it, but I have two more books before this one. I should get to it by March at the latest, I think.
I've tried for almost a month to get into DOAMCG, but it just didn't work for me. For some reason, the writing didn't appeal to me at all, so I decided to send it on to the next person on the list as soon as I have the address (I already PM'd a few minutes ago!).
