The Haunted Lady
2 journalers for this copy...
Paraphrased from the back of the book: "Wealthy Eliza Fairbanks may have been old and delicate, but she was hardly senile. So when she claimed to have found bats in her bedroom and arsenic on her strawberries, shrewd nurse-detective Hilda Adams was promptly assigned to watch over her. But apparently someone else was watching even more carefully. For soon the old lady's worries were over. And, unfortunately, so was her life..."

I have gotten away from mysteries (I used to devour Agatha Christie's when I was younger) - but this one has such an interesting cover, I must give it a shot.

**possible minor spoiler in my last status updates**
on page 55 of 272. "This is presenting itself as an Agatha Christie type mystery novel. With our nurse, Hilda Adams playing Miss Marple. I am enjoying it thus far."

on page 84 of 272. "the super obvious foreshadowing is bothing me, not sure why though"
on page 203 of 272. ""She had no idea that is was to be the last time she was to see the girl alive." -- yeah, this kind of "foreshadowing", there may be another name for it, but right now I am going with annoying."

On okay story with a likable detective. I would read more by this author, but am not going to seek out these stories.
I do like that this is a 1942 book republished. It is good that some of the older novels aren't getting lost forever.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Congratulations!! You have found a rare and unique gift, a travelling book!!
While it is possible I have read and given my thoughts on this book, it is more likely it is a book I found/purchased specifically to send out into the world! In either case, please read what has been said before, where has this book been, who enjoyed it, who didn't -- and perhaps, if you care to, you can add your two cents!
You do not have to join bookcrossing to pick up, enjoy, and journal a book -- however, if you do decide to join us, please consider using me (innae) as your recommending friend, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to drop me a personal message (for more info, check out the FAQ).
And again, thank you for saving this book from a life of boredom!
