This is the conclusion of a trilogy of fantasy/gay-erotica about a band of mages whose power comes from sexual energy - talk about a premise that justifies a lot of sex scenes! (Previous books are Apprenticed to Pleasure and Conjuring the Flesh.) The setting's fantasy-medieval, so why the subtitle says "erotic Sci-Fi" I do not know; I don't think a few discussions of herbal remedies and tantric sex somehow turn a fantasy into science fiction. But it works amazingly well, and the personable characters (who are all devastatingly attractive) held my interest so far, whether they were plotting to evade the bad guys or having yet another bout of randy sex.
I read the previous books some time back and have been saving this one by way of making the trilogy last longer...
Later: Aha! Near the end of this book I discovered where the Sci-Fi bit came in; this world's set in a far distant future! But it's so far distant that there aren't any technological artifacts, so it reads like a fantasy - not that it matters to me!
Here, Ander and Thane, the main couple, are off on another quest to thwart the evil zamindar, accompanied by two other lads. They have to flee from an increasingly-intense search by the Big Bad, and, after adventures aboard ship, find themselves in a strange land - where (surprise!) they meet another handsome, well-built young fellow, who's immediately attracted to them. [Funny how that happens!] The twist here is that he's been bound to a sect that does not allow its members to have sex, with a magical control in place to prevent it. Much of the book features our heroes trying to teach this shy young fellow how to get close to others, while working out how to free him from the magical controls. Oh, and while all this is going on, they have to avoid their pursuers and try to find a way to baffle the evil plans of the villain...
Another charming, sexy visit with the guys, with a rather surprising twist near the end - a good twist, though things are in doubt for a while. It did seem rather an abrupt way to wrap up the storyline, but I'm not complaining!
