Journal Entry 1 by herrgirl from Wantage, Oxfordshire United Kingdom on Friday, August 04, 2006
After a home dye job ruins her hair, Agatha Raisin, the prickly yet lovable amateur sleuth, turns to the wonderful new hairdresser in the neighbouring town for help. And as Agatha soon learns, Mr. John is as skilled at repairing her coiffure as he is at romancing her heart. But the charming Mr. John isn't all he appears to be. When a murderer strikes at the busy salon, Agatha must discover the truth and the killer's identity before it's too late.

No James! Another great book in the series, true to form - unlucky in love, bumbling through her detecting and fitting in with village life. Many thanks for sending this out on a ring - it will be off to Scotsbookie when I have an address.

Poor Agatha, she just has no luck with men! No James but Charles is his usual caddish self & even Bill seems to be giving her the cold shoulder. Another fun read in this hilarious series. Thank you herrgirl for raying this book. It will be on its travels again to AnglersRest asap.

Another delightful read in the life of good old Aggie!, sorry Agatha!! Only a brief glimpse of James, but there is lots of Charles and a rather dodgy, but eventually dead hair dresser, a rather grumpy, rude vicar and a rather iffy episode with a depilatory cream. Need I say more? As luck would have it, weebs is next inline for this one and Crafty & I are meeting with weebs for a festive drinky tomorrow, so will pass it on then.

Just another quick note - if you are like me and get mixed up about what order these books should go in - then go to this very useful site stopyourekillingme and you can look up the orders of murder mystery series by character or author - and also find similar series to try like those you have already enjoyed.

This was a lovely book to read over the Christmas break - I really enjoyed it, as usual it was like putting on a comfy pair of slippers and sinking into a lovely hot bath - not at the same time of course!

My first Agatha Raisin. I thought I knew what to expect - Miss Marple crossed with Poirot perhaps but no. I can't make up my mind how old Agatha is but she needs to get some new men in her life. I did think the story was a bit slow but that might be beacuse I've been reading Patricia Cornwell & Mary Higgins-Clark recently. It was a pleasant (apart from the murders)easy read & I shall certainly read more of Agatha Raisin. Ready to go to iojima.

I bought the book at a used book store along with some other Agatha Raisins to read while recovering from surgery. A great choice-I love the character, and she brings back fond memories of my visit to that part of England CAUGHT IN ALLENTOWN PENNSYLVANIA USA
