Picked this up at a charity stall at the Gorran Haven Street Fair for a bargain 50p. Will have to read it before letting it move on.

I was expecting a little more from this to be honest. It starts off well enough, illustrating the central role that beer had in ancient Britain. However, as the book moves towards more modern times, it becomes a little bogged down in the details of legislation surrounding the sale of alcohol. While this information is obviously vital for this type of history, I feel the details of the social side of things suffered a little.
That said, it's a book packed full of interesting little tidbits which are fascinating if you, like me, love beer, and love drinking it in 'proper' pubs.
