Bought on my 36-book charity shop trawl in Egham and Chertsey today! Either to be read, then released, or for direct release!

"Still in her teenage years, Nazneen finds herself in an arranged marriage with a disappointed man who is twenty years older. Away from the mud and heat of her Bangladeshi village, home is now a cramped flat in a high-rise block in London's East End. Nazneen knows not a word of English, and is forced to depend on her husband. But unlike him she is practical and wise, and befriends a fellow Asian girl Razia, who helps her understand the strange ways of her adopted new British home. Nazneen keeps in touch with her sister Hasina back in the village. But the rebellious Hasina has kicked against cultural tradition and run off in a 'love marriage' with the man of her dreams. When he suddenly turns violent, she is forced into the degrading job of garment girl in a cloth factory. Confined in her flat by tradition and family duty, Nazneen also sews furiously for a living, shut away with her buttons and linings - until the radical Karim steps unexpectedly into her life. On a background of racial conflict and tension, they embark on a love affair that forces Nazneen finally to take control of her fate. Strikingly imagined, gracious and funny, this novel is at once epic and intimate. Exploring the role of Fate in our lives - those who accept it; those who defy it - it traces the extraordinary transformation of an Asian girl, from cautious and shy to bold and dignified woman." - amazon.co.uk synopsis

I only joined Bookcrossing in July and have since been amassing books at an alarming rate! I'm not going to have time to read many of them soon, so I'm offering up some of the more popular ones as rings. I'm going to limit the participants to 15 (so it doesn't take *forever* to get back to me!), unless additional participants satisfy unfulfilled shipping preferences.

Participants:
bigcurlyloz
birmingham-rose (UK - UK)
Jaycee1972 (UK -UK/Europe) --skipped--
NatGilder (UK - anywhere)
rumble-bee (Germany - anywhere) <--- book is here
oi-reader (US - anywhere)
valerief (US - anywhere)
skcreader (US - anywhere)

How it works
- PM me to join and state your shipping preferences.
- When I have at least 5 people, I'll post the book to the first person.
- Please journal the book when it arrives and when you've sent it on.
- When you've read it, please PM the next person on the list for their address.
- Bear in mind other people want to read it, so don't put it at the bottom of your TBR pile (6 weeks is a reasonable timeframe imo)!
- The last person on the list is to send it back to me :-)

When I have enough participants I'll sort the order to suit as many people's postage preferences as possible.

Received this morning, I am reading another ring before this one, but will get onto it as soon as possible. Thank you for including me in this ring!

I really can't get into this book, I have tried and tried and read the first couple of chapters but I'm just losing the plot with it. I have PM'ed Jaycee1972 for her address to send it on.

Jaycee1972 has recently had a baby and so has asked to be skipped for the moment, I have therefore PM'd the next person on the list - NatGilder and the book will be on its merry way soon!

I wasn't really that fond of this book. I expected it to be a lot better than it was. I will send the book on to rumble-bee as soon as I have the details. I hope others will find this book more enjoyable than I did. Thanks :)

This week has started perfectly - with a book in my mailbox! Thanks, NatGilder, for sending it along so swiftly.
I'm quite curious - I have also made the experience that much-acclaimed books have not always been my cup of tea. But we shall see.
Don't know if I can read it within 6 weeks; if not, I'll pass it on anyway.

I am so sorry; I must be getting old ;-(
I didn't realize that this book has already been here for close to 4 months...
Somehow, there has always been something else preventing me from starting to read it.
But now I promise not to keep it any longer than April. Would that be OK for you all?
thanks so much, bigcurlyloz, for your patience!

edit July 23rd: sorry again, but now it's definitely on my schedule!! hope you won't stone me for the postponement!!!
