Artemis is at boarding school in Ireland when he suddenly receives an urgent video email from Russia. In it is a plea from his father, who has been kidnapped by the Russian Mafiya. As Artemis rushes to his rescue, he is stopped by Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon fairy police. But this time, instead of battling the fairies, he is going to have to join forces with them if he wants to save one of the few people in the world he loves.

I really enjoyed the first Artemis Fowl novel, which is why I got this one from Titletrader. Sadly, this one wasn't as enjoyable as the first. But it was still cute and entertaining. Captain Short (or Holly) is quite the character. Her, combined with Fowl, Butler, Root, and Foaly make quite a team. This book finds Fowl and Butler working with LEPrecon rather than against them. This was a very easy read!

Another delightful adventure of Artemis Fowl. I enjoy the interplay between him and Holly. A cute entertaining book which is an easy read

I enjoyed this second book in the Artemis Fowl series. I especially liked how Artemis, Butler, Holly and Commander Root worked together to save the day. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, The Eternity Code.
