An engrossing, intelligent, disturbing read - but follows the Picoult formula...
Amazon Review
After hearing so much about this author, I succumbed and started reading The Pact, the story of a teenage couple called Emily & Chris. An apparent suicide pact but, just Emily died, Chris lived. Their parents have been friends and neighbours for 18 years, Chris and Emily have been so close since Emily's birth, Chris & Emily becoming a couple was almost inevitable to their families, so it was no surprise when their friendship developed into something much more.
The gun that killed Emily had 2 bullets, supposedly one for Emily & one for Chris but, was that really true?
This was my first foray into the world of Jodi Picoult and what a stunning first read! This book really makes you think it did me, for how her parents and Chris's parents could feel, to how Emily and Chris who seemingly had everything could have their lives comer to this. I most definitely did not want to put this book down, there was never a dull moment, I read it with every spare moment I had, if your wondering whether to read this book, then I would say read it, its emotional, it makes you think and wonder, I will most certainly be coming back for more from Jodi Picoult, amazing stuff!
