Rebecca
3 journalers for this copy...
This is one of those books that I feel I ought to have read (it inevitably comes up when 'great opening lines' are discussed), but I have not had a chance at it yet. Time will tell. This is a copy without ISBN, which apparently was a tie-in from a newspaper.
Yes, it's a good (modern) gothic tale. When the un-named heroine of the piece contracts a whirlwind romance and marriage with the moody and aristocratic Maxim de Winter, and returns with him to his ancestral home at Manderley, she finds that she and the rest of the household are forever overshadowed by the memories of Maxim's first wife, Rebecca. A very entertaining read.

Picked up as a 'leftover' from the York Meet.
I should really read it too (I like what I've read of Du Maurier and certainly enjoyed the film), but I simply have too much else to read (including more Du Maurier!) to be able seriously consider this at the moment, I'm afraid.
Will either take back to the York Meet (to give it another go at finding a reader) or take it to a future Leeds Meet. I'll let you know.
