I had never read any of these books but had heard good things and as I am partial to a good crime story could not resist when I spotted this at a London MeetUp – especially as it was set in Venice where I had been early this year and had a wonderful time. Was not really that gripped – not sure if this is what normally happens in the life of this policeman – but not much happens and his home life plays a more vital role than his work – which is good for work/life balance but did not make for gripping reading, it all felt a bit perfunctory.
I picked this up at the meetup tonight. It looked interesting, though I think the Venetian setting was a large part of the appeal.
