Synopsis
The witty, sexy sequel to Tracy Quan's bestselling "Diary of a Manhattan Call Girl". Like everyone, Nancy finds that as life goes on, she has to adapt. She's learning to hone her respectable image as the wife of investment banker Matt, cooking fashionable meals and taking his shirts to the cleaners, while turning a few tricks on the side. Volume is down, but the sex is kinkier. And she finds herself pulled into the discreet subculture of the married call girl. Some women's husband's know what they do, some don't, and some 'know, but don't know.' Nancy's is in the dark, although her best friend Allison's increasing presence in the media spotlight threatens to expose Nancy's secret. Meanwhile, Matt wants a baby, but Nancy isn't so sure. Motherhood could end her career for good - and what will it do to her body? Will Nancy have to give up her career to save her marriage? What if she becomes the frumpy wife her clients often come to her to escape? Fans of Quan's first Nancy Chan novel, readers of Candace Bushnell's "4 Blondes", and anyone who enjoys a walk on the wild side will love this revealing romp.

7 out of 10

Surprisingly, I liked this one more than the first one. I didn't think it was meant to be like that with sequels but I found the first one a little too frivolous ofr my liking - Bridget Jones the Sex Worker with incredibly neurotic and dysfunctional sex worker friends. This one had more of a plot to get into but was still light-heartedly amusing. Allie comes into her own and Nancy enjoys the angst of juggling domestic married bliss with her job as a hooker and the necessary duplicity that creates. As I'm going to ray this book back to Angellica, I won't give anything away but it's a sweet read and I'm glad I swooped in on the bookswap and stole it :)

Like wubbaducky, preferred this one to the first one - but still not quite doing it for me, somehow. Liked the angst about double lives, juggling her work with her marriage etc.

Will post off to Kera this week.

I found the plot of duplicity quite interesting, as well as the kind of "living collision" story the protagonist is going through...

The book was waiting for me yesterday as I came home after an extremely busy day. I'll do my best to dig into it soon, but it might take two months before I'm ready. I'm already apologizing for the delay, but I'm in the middle of doing my graduating paper and I have another book befor this. But I'll do my best and try to be quick. :)

4 out of 10

I started to read the book, but something about the whole idea of Sex in the City meets hooking is just not appealing. I sort of liked the first one, but I think two books with the same idea... It seems to me that the problems are still the same as well as the characters, no growth, same lies. And then there's golden shower in first ten pages... I'm not a prude but I do have my limits.

This obviously works for others so I'll pass this on to Amberkatze, I already received the address so I'll put it in mail today or tomorrow. Thank you wubbaducky and angellica for sharing. :) And for the patience with me.

The book arrived yesterday! Thank you bookwormess for sending this on to me and thanks to angellica for starting the ring!

This is the first ring to reach me in 2007 but I have a few books that I need to get through and send off before I read this one. I will try and be as quick as possible though.

I had to force myself to read this till the end. It wasn't new and exciting like the first book and none of my expectations were met and I felt disappointed.

I would have liked to see some more marriage type problems (without spoiling this for others I can't say what) and I actually started to hate the main character because of the way she was treating her husband.

It will be interesting to see if the author writes anything else worth reading after this small success...

Thanks for organising this ring angellica! I will be pming the next person in line for an address and will hopefully send this on next week...or nearer payday depending on my finances!

This bookring arrived here in the Swiss alps from Vienna today... I was sort of hoping to read the first one first, but I'm not sure where that ring went... Anyway, I look forward to discovering this author. Looks like fun - thanks so much.
UPDATE
Read this while on a train trip this weekend. I enjoyed it, although I do sort of wish I had read the first one first. I think I signed up for that ring somewhere but who knows... This was fun, very light stuff. Thanks for making this ring available, the book will be headed towards the UK soon.

I haven't read the first one but I quite enjoyed this one. I liked the way she quite easily kept her two lives apart from each other. I would find it too stressful!! There were several good and surprising twists in there.

Light and easy to read and not too thought provoking. It engaged me well enough on Sunday afternoon and the bus journey to and from work, but I echo the thoughts of previous journallers that there weren't enough fresh ideas/subject matter.

Have sent a pm to the next person.... TheWhiteLion
