This was a cracker of a Sci-fi romp! A friend told me that there was a Star Trek episode with a similar premise, I wouldn't at all be surprised if they'd nicked it straight from here.
Storywise everything was slightly predictable, but no less enjoyable for it. Mr Heinlein is obviously not an animal lover, though! I had a little trouble with the treatment of some of the story's animals, but I guess it was the 50's.... I will be seeking out more Heinlein to read!

This is a really great pulpy 50s sci-fi novel!
It's got plenty of action and is fast moving. The science is interesting and not too complicated - just a nice simple story of alien invasion and body snatching! And that mild 1950s sexism just makes the book complete.
This story would make an excellent movie ... it has nudity and everything!
I think the Star Trek premise referred to may be The Borg, as they take over humans in much the same way, only they're technological not biological beings.
