My cousin in Canada bought me this book in 2004 enscribing it "mothers are everywhere" and it's a firm favourite. It's in my permanent collection and not up for bookcrossing at this time.

Thank you for loaning this book to me! I promise to take good care of it, and return it in good shape :)
I have quite many ringbooks waiting at the moment, but hope to get into this one within few weeks...

I've started to read this, and most interesting is that I just finished a raybook Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl; Harriet Jacobs which is an autobiography written by a womanslave who succeeded in her escape, written on 1861. This book tells of year 1964, around hundred years later, and maybe even same state. Narrators father reminds me of cruel slavemasters (maybe his grand-grand-father had been one?); I wonder how much change has there been in general attitudes in hundred years.

I finished this book today and it brought many thoughts.

It was interesting to get deep insight into bees and beehives - how much philosophy you can fetch from nature and animals. This reminds me of birds having gps-instincts for flying from equatorial Africa to Finland, or even from northern Lapland to Antarctica. Nature is amazing.

One thing was the forum of sisters, maybe bookcrossing forum is modern version of this.

One touching thought about mothers was something like you must find mother from within yourself, from your heart, instead of longing for your own mother, or her or anyone else's attention and her being close. This was quite healing thought in a way, letting the life go on, and understanding that mother's do their best for their children and nobody can require more. Maybe this reveals that this issue is slightly topical for me, have been thinking a lot. Actually this was maybe second or third book I've read just recently, handling the traditions from mothers - and there has been some discussion in Finnish forum, too, about 'what did your mother teach to you'

Now this book is ready to return home, thanks!

This is back on my shelf. So interesting to read what you wrote Aspen!

As my cousin wrote on the book for me -mothers are everywhere and I think that that thought can be very healing and freeing too. As mothers (and this applies to our own mothers too) we cannot be or do everything for our kids - but there are others along the way who take on that role for us - and nurture us in the right way at the right time. I think that's pretty cool!
