Ta very muchly, another one off my wish list.

This is one of the best books I have read this year!

I had no preconceptions about the story, all I knew were the names of the two lead characters and it was set in the American Civil War. But what a story! It follows the life and loves of Scarlett O'Hara, who is not the nicest of girls. However, you begin to really admire her grit and 'gumption' to carry on where others gave up.

All I can say is, forget Mr Darcy, I'd like Rhett Butler please!!!!

I found this hard to put down as the story is very gripping. I want to see the film again now. Scarlett was as annoying as ever she can be so blind, but it is really easy to see why she is like that. pm'ing CaterinaAnna to get her address

Posting to Caterina Anna today

Journal Entry 9 by Caterinaanna from Coventry, West Midlands United Kingdom on Sunday, September 16, 2007
Arrived earlier this very busy week, apologies for not journalling its safe arrival sooner. There is another ray book up before it, so it will be a while before I start, let alone finish this monster!

Journal Entry 10 by Caterinaanna from Coventry, West Midlands United Kingdom on Sunday, September 23, 2007
So here I am a week later having worked my way through the behemoth and agreeing totally with katweeble. I have seen the film, but it was over twenty years ago so I remembered absolutely nothing of the story, just that I was teased mercilessly by my then boyfriend about dissolving into tears at the end. Did every little bit make it to the film? How did they make Scarlett sympathetic without recourse to the descriptions of the fear that drives her? If it did that, & I suppose it must have to have had that effect on me, it deserved its Oscars, for judged solely from the outside Scarlett is a nasty piece of work and I was as sorry for Rhett as for her by the end.

I have supertellp's addy, but I know she's in no hurry, so I will get this on its way next time I have a packing and parcelling session.

I got the book from my post office this Monday. I am really excited about reading this as I really consider GWTHW a classic and I have seen the movie, which I also liked. Thank you so much for having patience with me and my e-mail, supertellp! :)

EDIT September 15th 2008:

I'm really really sorry that I've held the book for so long. I finished reading it at last last week, and I must say that the book was everything I expected it to be. Love the characters, and I really must see the movie again sometime soon - I've seen it once, but didn't remember much of it as I began reading the book. Maybe I should also get my hands on the sequel "Scarlett" and the recently released book that tells Rhett's story... :D

Thanks for arranging the ring! I'm going to contact the next reader right away.

It's here! It's been here for a week but I was away for a business trip, so I didn't have the chance to journal it straight after it arrived. :D

I haven't started it yet, but will soon. I'm very much looking forward to it as I'm a big fan of the movie!

Eep, I still have this book! I'm so sorry for the delay. I finished reading it ages ago and very much enjoyed it. I just love the drama!

My apologies for keeping it so long, life got in the way I guess. Wyldetwo asked to be skipped and I have kitiarablue's address, so I will be popping the book in the mail today.

Journal Entry 16 by kitiarablue from Jersey City, New Jersey USA on Monday, December 15, 2008
Arrived today! I will be starting this as soon as possible!!!

Journal Entry 17 by kitiarablue from Jersey City, New Jersey USA on Monday, February 16, 2009
I am so glad I decided to give this book a chance! Like others have said before, Scarlett is not the nicest of people, but you have to admire her, even when you want shake her for not seeing what's before her! I've actually never seen the movie, I've refused to watch it because I thought it would be a bunch of romantic drivel, but now I really want to see it. I will pass the book along to RayneQueen as soon as I have her info! Thank you Chas04 for sharing!

Wow, that was a long one! The story was much more interesting than I expected, though, so it was definitely worth it. I was really struck by how differently the Civil War was portrayed from a Southern point of view than what we Yankees learn in school.
