Much better than Confessions of a Shopaholic, which I didn't like it at all. Read more at randomhouse.com and sophiekinsella.com. ("Sophie Kinsella" is a pen-name of Madeleine Wickham.)

From Booklist
The author of the Shopaholic trilogy offers up a delightful new novel, filled with her trademark wit and humor. When her plane en route from Glasgow to London experiences horrible turbulence, Emma Corrigan is convinced she is going to die. She babbles all of her most intimate thoughts and secrets to the handsome American man sitting next to her. But the plane lands safely, and Emma bids him an awkward good-bye. When she enters the office on Monday and learns the CEO of the company, Jack Harper, is in for a visit, Emma is horrified to learn Jack is actually the man in whom she confided on the flight. He knows everything, including that she hates her job and that she is not quite sure she loves her boyfriend. But Jack does not fire her on the spot; instead, he quietly replaces the office coffeemaker she hates and gives her advice about her personal life, which she finds infuriating. So why can't she stop thinking about him? Kinsella has another irresistible hit on her hands.

From Publishers Weekly
Venturing beyond Saks and Barney's, the bestselling author of Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Ties the Knot entertains readers with backstabbing office shenanigans, competition, scandal, love and sex. The plot is gossamer thin (Jack is keeping secrets of his own) and the lopsided romance not entirely believable, but Kinsella's down-to-earth protagonist is sure to have readers sympathizing and doubled over in laughter.

I have trouble watching other people embarrass themselves -- even in movies or books. I winced throughout Becky Bloomwood's adventures in the Shopaholic series, and I cringe every time I watch Meet the Parents. It just makes me uncomfortable knowing when someone's going to be humiliated.

In this book, after Emma Corrigan divulges all her secrets to what she thinks is a complete stranger, thus setting herself up for MONUMENTAL embarrassment, I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop. And when it did, I was just as mortified as Emma was -- how awful!

All in all, though, I think I've enjoyed this book the most out of all the Kinsella novels I've read. Becky was amusing, but I had trouble connecting with her character (I just can't care that much about uncomfortable, expensive shoes :) ), and I never really liked Samantha from The Undomestic Goddess. But Emma is more like an ordinary gal -- she wants nice stuff but is reasonable enough to know she can't afford new designer clothes; she's a good worker but still nips out for coffee and a chat with coworkers while on the clock; and she has both big and little secrets she keeps even from her best friend. She doesn't come across as daft (like Becky) or a bit arrogant (like Samantha). She's just like any one of us readers -- though we probably read more books that she does. :)

This was a fun, fast read - I stayed up late and finished it off in 5 hours!

I enjoy Kinsella's writing style because her plots are more window dressing for the relationships and dialog between the characters. I agree with the previous reader who said Emma is the most likeable of Kinsella's characters so far. I like clothes but when a character is obsessed with them I just can't play along 100%, so it was a better fit for me than the Shopoholic books.

The only part that didn't ring true for me was the very end, the plot twist where the second roommate gets into the plotline. I found it a little unnecessary. I liked the rest of the book a great deal though.

Will PM next in line for an address today...thank you for sharing!
Got address as of 12/22 will ship out now that the PO is less insane.
