Given to me by celticstar from one of her tombola prizes at the Uncon, so after I have read it, it will be reserved for her.

When stranger Jim Nealon walks into Lizzie Flynn's shop and proposes that she help him make his beautiful jigsaws, Lizzie agrees. It's a project that she can fit into her humdrum life without making too many changes. She's about to turn fifty - she could do with a distraction. Then, Jim shows her the photographs he intends to use. Now, the settled picture was that Lizzie's life is in the air, falling in a thousand different pieces. As she scrambles to put her life back together again, Lizzie is startled to realise that it can't be done. It was never a whole picture anyway. Too many of the pieces didn't fit. And one piece is missing. The "Jigsaw Maker" is the story of Lizzie's journey towards the truth.

Loved this, a wonderful book to curl up with. A seemingly light book, it has some darker undercurrents, secrets and lies from the past resurface and begin to shake the foundations of Lyzzie Flynn's quiet life. This is the first book from Transita I have read, and what a treat.

Picked up from Heaven-Ali yesterday to pass to LindyB28. I do like to have the whole path of a book recorded, and I want to see the reviews - so hope you don't mind me journalling it in between!

Liz gave this to me on Monday afternoon. I started reading it at about 6, despite a short break to cook some dinner, I'd nearly finished by 8.45 but had given myself a headache by the reading/knitting concentration combination so had to read the final 15 pages on Tuesday morning!

But, anyway, the point is that I loved this book despite being slightly wary at the beginning because I wasn't entirely convinced by the characterisation. However, as the dual narrative of the past events began to unfold, I became completely involved in the novel and the raw and painful emotional life of Lizzie.

Thanks for sharing this Ali; I'm going to aim to drop this round to Liz so that she can pass it on to Gill (along with another book for Gill that I've been holding onto for months... or maybe I could drop them at Gill's? I wonder where she lives??)

Thanks, Linda - picked up from our meetup at Solihull Starbucks yesterday. This looks like one to fast-track to the top of Mount TBR.

Can't believe I've kept this for so long. I think I'd forgotten it was a ring! Anyway, after my spending spree at the Transita day in Oxford on Saturday, I can now let it go to celticstar.

Sorry for the delay in letting you know it arrived.

Hope to get to it soon

Sorry for holding onto this one for so long. I'm very glad it came back for a visit though, it's a really beautiful story. My fist transita read also and I look forward to more. I really felt sorry for Lizzie but I think Anne & Bernie had probably suffered with their guilt just as much.

Will PM pammykn for an address and pop in the post as soon as possible.

Thanks so much for giving me the chance to read another great Transita book! What a tragic story for Lizzie -- holding on to such a heavy and erroneous burden for most of her life. Glad to see that she was able to lighten up and learn the truth, eventually. I thought I knew where the story was going and was happily surprised to see it get more involved than I had believed. Returning to Heaven-Ali Monday 08/13/07, Mallary has asked to be skipped.
