I bought this ages ago but haven't been able to get into it. Mind you, I absolutely HATE the film Fight Club, based on the book by this author, so really I shouldn't be so surprised!

I picked this up at the Unconvention as it is on one of my reading lists, namely 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die [#954].
"Dark" isn't the right word, but it's the first word to come to mind.
Choke portrays a Gen-X view of the world, though Palahniuk's version is certainly a more twisted and more seedy version than that of Douglas Coupland. Beyond the immediate story of the protagonist, Victor, it's a satire on the modern world, how we spend our lives and what we do to get love. Blackly humorous, I enjoyed this book but felt that it ran out of steam in the last few chapters.
