Jack Field is an ex-cop from New York City. He is now a dog trainer and animal behavior specialist living in the Maine woods. His girl friend is the part-time medical examiner. That's how he becomes involved solving the mysterious murder of a young woman whose dog was the only witness to the murder.

I don't really like cozies ... the narrator tends to be pretentious and it irritates me. This book was no exception. I liked reading about the doggies though.

I really enjoyed this one. Jack is a bit of a know-all, & his and Jamie's antics palled very quickly, but I enjoyed most of the story which was full of humour, and I lurved the dogs.

On Sunday, when I get home from the convention, I'm picking up my new puppy, at the same time as I'm collecting my older puppy who is holidaying at a friend's for the weekend. Another set of paws running through the house - what bliss. It will be fun and frolics when the cats get wind of her.
