Journal Entry 1 by Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm from Edinburgh, Scotland United Kingdom on Thursday, June 29, 2006
Read this book for a book group meeting. It wasn't to my taste - but a number of the others absolutely loved it! For me it was too wordy and the language far too complex. For others they loved the powerful, descriptive style.
Core story is an interesting concept - if you can get to it!
Good luck - and I hope you fall into the "loved it" camp!

Fantastic - I loved this book so much. It was creepy and weird and really kept me wanting to read more. There's something quite magical abut Bradbury's writing style!!

Found this on my sister's spare bed during a stop-over in Glasgow. Dont think she had finished it but she gave it away with me as I'd started.
Not read Ray Bradbury since schooldays (30 years ago). Struggled to get into this but something kept me turning the pages. Did not find the plot terribly engaging and his numerous descriptive paragraphs left me rather cold. I willlingly pass this book on. Will leave it at the gym today some 400 miles from where I picked it up. Can we get it over (or under) the channel?
However, the book caught me during a week when I needed a distraction - perfect for that.

Brilliantly written - but I find fantasy hard to take. The romantic view of childhood is well done with great sensitivity and imagination
