Back Cover: Stories to Celebrate the Special Sisters in Our Lives and Our Hearts
She's the only one who could make you giggle uncontrollably at the dinner table by making her funny face; she teased you about your taste in your first boyfriend and then comforted you when he broke it off; she offered her clothes and advice even when neither suited your style; she knows instantly by the tone of your voice when something's wrong, even though she's miles away.

Chances are if you recognize this person, you're lucky enough to have a sister. And whether you share this special connection through genetics or the heart, by common parents or common adventures, only the two of you understand your deep and dynamic bond. This book celebrates that bond and the sister who helps you through life's ups and downs.

Whether you're the younger sister who looked up to an older one; the oldest sibling who let her younger sister tag along; or the brother who learned quickly that girls can wrestle as well as boys, this book reveals the special role sisters play in our lives. With humor and insight, each story conveys how our sisters shape our personalities, help us revel in life's good times and buoy us through the challenging ones.

With real-life stories from celebrities and everyday sisters-next-door, chapters include: A Sister's Love, Insights and Lessons, Sibling Revelry, Overcoming Obstacles, The Bond Between Sisters, Sisters by Heart, Oh Brother! and Special Memories.

While you may not live under the same roof; may not act in the same manner; and may not always agree, nothing creates a more unique and lasting relationship than sisterhood. "Chicken Soup for the Sister's Soul" will remind you how much that relationship means to you.

*****

I finished reading this on 1/12/03. Most of the stories were good ... but a little too much about death for my taste. I prefer the happy, fun stories shared between living sisters. I especially liked "Revenge of the Fifth-Grade Girls" where the older sister silently sticks up for the younger sister when she's being picked on and "Sugar River" where the older sister saves her brother from drowning. Other good ones to mention are "Spit Promises" where the sister shaves her head to still look like her sister with cancer and "Once Upon a Birthday" where the mom and 8 sisters traveled from England to Canada as a birthday surprise.

Release planned for Thursday, December 26, 2002 at Handed off in Antioch, Illinois USA.

Christmas gift for my sister.

Merry Christmas!!
