Journal Entry 1 by harmaja from Helsinki, Uusimaa Finland on Monday, June 26, 2006
Illustrated by Tony Ross. I bought a bunch of kid lit from the recycling centre. I'm not going to have time to read it all, so some of it is available. This one I'm going to read, though.

This was a pretty sad children's book after all. And well written. I like Paula Danziger's books. I usually read the ones aimed at a bit older audience, but Amber Brown was a nice new acquintance all the same.

I liked the story very mutch. The story was sad indeed, but I liked that the book kinda tells that even tough life doesn't always go the way you want, thats okay.

Picked this up at the Turku mitti :) I was certainly intrigued by the line, "We always sit together when our class flies to some faraway place".

Journal Entry 6 by potok-fan from Turku, Varsinais-Suomi Finland on Saturday, March 08, 2008

I sat down and read this last night before bed. What a nice little book! I don't think I had ever heard of Paula Danziger before, who has no children but does like to 'borrow' them, and likes putting stickers on everything. I have no children, and worry sometimes that I am becoming one of those adults who children can't stand :( I'd like to be just a little more like Paula D! Or like Amber's mother, who doesn't act like my feelings don't count, just because I'm a kid. This book made me remember my own third-grade teacher, Miss Black, who was wonderful, although she never flew us to China. ;) She had long hair, was rather heavy, and wore a paisley caftan. She encouraged us to manage our time independently, and I loved that year. Thank you, Miss Black, and thank you harmaja & Rakuna. UPDATE: This book is currently in the Virtual Book Box on bookobsessed.com NEW UPDATE: Nobody in the VBB seemed to be interested in this. So it stays in Finland for a bit longer! Instead, I'm going to take it to kesäpäivät - I'm sure somebody there will be happy to get this. :)
