I can't remember having read this, so I'll give it a go and see what happens.

The only problem with this book is the author. 'Fever Pitch' and 'High Fidelity' are two of my favourites, and this, while being a perfectly reasonable read, cannot live up to those two. That said, it was still an enjoyable read, and Hornby proves that he can write convincingly as a woman. Just.
The story concerns a married couple living in London. She's a doctor, he's a some time, small time writer, niether of them are happy. However, when the husband has a Damascene conversion from Angriest Man In Holloway to self-sacrificing do gooder, things go from bad too worse. There are some funny scenes throughout, and plenty of emotional stuff too. Just don't expect another 'Fever Pitch'.

On it's way to fellow bookcrosser RDWirral as part of a trade which sees 'Hey Nostradamus' by Douglas Coupland heading in my direction.
Thanks to Mr Mustard for this wishlist book traded for Hey Nostradamus! by Douglas Coupland
Hi Mr Mustard, (I've just realised the in joke with your name - good one)
I haven't been well today and so I picked up this as an easy read. I wasn't too sure about it to be honest. I've noticed now with Hornby that often the concept is strong, but the execution of it inevitably wanders off into the realm of implausibility and becomes almost a parody of a book of its genre, rather than the book itself - do you see what I mean?
Interesting that he wrote from Katie's perspective - I actually found that I didn't particularly like her, and enjoying a book can be difficult when you don't like the central character. I also thought that DJ Goodnews and many other minor characters were very two dimensionally drawn.
Not Hornby's best I feel - I will either trade this again RABCK it or put in a bookbox and will get the Coupland to you tommorrow
