I got this in a box of books at the Toronto Public Library book sale a few months ago. I added it to Mt. TBR because I have never read any of Sue Grafton's books and the alphabet series is very popular.

I got around to reading it a few weeks ago, and I must say that I was disappointed. It wasn't quite the calibre of writing that I had expected. There was so much foreboding that you could see things coming a mile away. I didn't really find Kinsey to be an engaging character.

Anyway, I am passing it along to Mom because she would like to read it.

I was disappointed in Kinsey Millhone's character. I may be a prude but I thought she jumped into bed pretty quickly with one of her suspects. She also used the "F" word frequently which I found offensive. It was rather predictable and ended on a flat note. I had planned to read the whole series. I will look for B is for Burglar and give her another chance but I'm not sure that I will make it to Z.
I have just finished James Patterson's Alex Cross series and Alex was an impeccable character so perhaps I was expecting too much from Kinsey.

Picked up tonight at the BookCrossing meet-up in Barrie, at Tim Horton's (Essa Rd/Bryne Dr). Thanks Nelle. I enjoy mystery books so I'll give this one a try. Haven't read any by Sue Grafton before.
This is the cover on the book that I have.

Decided it is about time that I start the Kinsey Millhone series, as Nelle is passing on the books she has read, there is another BCer who I know is interested in reading this series, and in looking at the journal entries I realize it is well over a year since I received the first in the series for the letter "A". Just finished the first chapter and I can tell this will be a quick read. After reviewing again the previous journal entries for this book, I'm not sure how much I'll enjoy this one but I know that Nelle has said later books get better so I'm willing to give them a try.

Finished reading this one today. My sentiments are reflected in the journal entry comments made by Miss-Efficiency, and in general this was a disappointing book to me. I am open to reading more in this series though, and will see if the writing of Sue Grafton and the character development of Kinsey improve in future books.
