Another lovely Transita - I'm spreading these gradually through my TBR and enjoying them slowly.

This starts as a deceptively simple story about the attendees on a garden design summer school in Italy, but deepens into a musing on life, love, marriage, death and religion - but without being at all heavy; just a thoughtful book which has time to look at these matters, as well as having an interesting and twisty storyline. I usually mind religion in books, but this was a matter-of-fact look at how faith works in people's lives, and as such was both interesting and moving.

I will be offering this on a bookring once I've got a few back, hence registering it now - it will be going round on a ring and back to the Permanent Collection.

Journal Entry 4 by AnglersRest from Teignmouth, Devon United Kingdom on Monday, July 10, 2006
This arrived this morning. Am looking forward to reading. Shouldn't be too long to start as I am over the worse on my ring crisis!

Journal Entry 5 by AnglersRest from Teignmouth, Devon United Kingdom on Saturday, July 22, 2006
I started this during Wednesday afternoon, whilst in the waiting room at the hospital and finished this afternoon in the garden. It is a very gentle story, with a twist in the story along with a happy ending. A story of deep friendship, disappointment, love, marriage and bereavement. Although this book is not making it to my list of top 10 for the year, it was an enjoyable book with one I recommend reading.

I have purplerosebud's address, so this will be in the post on Monday 24th July. Thanks for sharing LyzzyBee.

Arrived in the post yesterday, many thanks! I'm just finishing my first transita book and really enjoying it, so I'm looking foreward to reading this one soon. Just a couple of other rings first.

Journal Entry 7 by purplerosebud from Petersfield, Hampshire United Kingdom on Wednesday, August 9, 2006
Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this as much as the last Transita book I read but I am still looking forward to reading more of their books.

Have passed it on to calalilly.

Journal Entry 8 by calalilly from Waterlooville, Hampshire United Kingdom on Thursday, August 17, 2006
I like Purplerosebud didn't enjoy this book as much as the previous one I read. I found it hard getting into. Maybe just the wrong type of book for me.
Sending this off to garibaldisghost.

Journal Entry 9 by garibaldisghost from Nottingham, Nottinghamshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, September 19, 2006
Received by post yesterday. I'll be reading it soon.

Journal Entry 10 by garibaldisghost from Nottingham, Nottinghamshire United Kingdom on Monday, October 23, 2006
This is a novel that I found to be a none-too-deep mix of emotions and although there are a some twists in the story it ultimately has a happy ending.

I've given it a score of 6 out of 10 because it's not a life-changing story but as I love Italy I did enjoy the descriptions of Tuscany and Florence.

It's now on its way to heathwitch, the next on the list.

RELEASE NOTES:

Sending off to heathwitch, the next person in the ring.

Sadly I could not get into this book at all -- reflecting on this, I don't think I was really "in the mood" so to speak -- so have mailed it onto Wyjane.

Journal Entry 14 by wyjane from Radford Semele, Warwickshire United Kingdom on Monday, December 18, 2006
arrived safely in the christmas post - though I don't think I'll have time to get to it til January. Still, it looks like one to look forward to when life is a bit less frantic.

I'm feeling really guilty - I seem to have lost this book! To make matters worse, I was half way through it, and I want to finish it, as well as send it on its way. I definitely had it in Jan when I visited my mother, but I've been back there and can't find it. I will keep looking, but if it hasn't turned up in the next couple of weeks I'll have to get another copy. Sorry everyone, especially LyzzyBee, I'll keep you posted.

Journal Entry 16 by wyjane from Radford Semele, Warwickshire United Kingdom on Friday, February 16, 2007
panic over - my panic anyway, no sooner had I bitten the bullet and confessed to losing it than I found it again. So now I've finished reading it and will pm Inver for an address to get it on it's way.

Journal Entry 17 by Inver from Aberdeen, Scotland United Kingdom on Saturday, February 24, 2007
Arrived today. Looks like another good book. Have another bookring before this one I'm afraid, so will be a wee while before I get to it.

10/3/07 Nearly finished another bookring, hoping to get to this one on next couple of weeks.

17/3/07 Started reading.

29/3/07 Nearly finished.....awaiting address from next on list.

Journal Entry 18 by Inver from Aberdeen, Scotland United Kingdom on Friday, March 30, 2007
After a slow start and finding the art references a bit of a bind, I have to say I did really enjoy it. It was a gentle read and loved all the characters and I so wanted to visit all the gardens that were spoken off. Where did that unexpected twist come from though. Thanks again Lyzzy for sharing. Just waiting for next address to get it on its way again

RELEASE NOTES:

Hoping you enjoy this lovely book.

Arrived in the post today - with another ring! I'll try to keep it moving...

I really enjoyed the philosophical discussions in this book, and the descriptions of Tuscany were nothing but gorgeous (and Botticelli is one of my favourite painters). Nerine completely steals the show, and the book gave me a lot to think about. Made me long for a big steaming bowl of pasta della casa, and some good bread and olive oil, though :)
I've already PM'd Dutchbooky for her address so it will be on it's way again soon.

Journal Entry 22 by dutchbooky from Amsterdam, Noord-Holland Netherlands on Wednesday, April 25, 2007
Delivered by the postman! It will have to wait, I have about 4 ringbooks to finish first. With a week's holiday coming up, I hope I can speed up my reading! Thanks for sharing, Lyzzybee and sending, Microsquid!

Edit: May 18 - I have started reading today! Hope to be able to finish it in a week's time!

Edit: May 30 - It is not going as fast as I thought it would. Am halfway now and enjoying the story. Wish I could look at the Botticelli paintings while reading. The photo of the Primavera is so small and dark, you really have to use your imagination.

Journal Entry 23 by dutchbooky from Amsterdam, Noord-Holland Netherlands on Tuesday, June 5, 2007
I agree with Anglersrest: definitely not a top 10 for me, but yet an agreeable story about love, friendship, grief, disappointment. I particularly enjoyed the descriptions of the friendship between Ellie and Nerine. It goes to show that age does not need to be a problem in friendships. Also Ellie's second chance in life and the way she learns to stand and act on her own were well described.
I downloaded pictures of the paintings described in the book (Primavera and Birth of Venus). I now use these as a background on my desktop. Really beautiful paintings, but I am not impressed with Botticelli's toes! ;-))

I PM-ed Jessibud, but she wants to be skipped. Idpaulson is next and I will mail it to her on Wednesday, June 6!

Journal Entry 24 by ldpaulson from Ventura, California USA on Wednesday, July 25, 2007
Arrived in my mailbox with some very beautiful enclosures. I have a few rings in line ahead of this. It will be started as soon as humanly possible.

Thanks Lyz!

Interesting. I thought it wouldn''t be my cuppa, but it''s well done and I figured out the ending in the first pages, although there were unexpected plot points along the way.

Ironically, I just started reading another book in which Prosperina figures heavily. Odd how these things happen.

It''s on to the next reader as soon as I have a mailing address.

Sorry to all those yet to read this one, I have given up on it and don't think you'll see this copy - I will try to source another copy and will post here and contact the next reader when I have one.

I now have a new copy thanks to LizzyBlack - I have put a link in on my homepage as when I try to put one here it messes up the JE.
