Life in a middle class Afghan family, observed by the author, a guest for several months. Even though this family is relatively non-secular & non-political and relatively well-to-do, there are many cultural differences and this book was a real eye-opener. A very compelling book.
Gave book to a friend who will hopefully read it and pass on to someone else.
A gift from the SupremeGoddess that I look forward to reading and then passing it on.
This is a very good book, and very informative about Afghanistan. The reader is drawn into the daily lives and customs of the Afghanis.
The book's interest is the complexities of the culture. There isn't a strong narrative arc, overall, but the book is still very strong in its depiction of the daily challenges and trials of life in the culture depicted in the book.
The characters in this nonfiction work are brought vividly to life by the author.
