Last Days of Summer

"A poignant, golden evocation of one boy's lost innocence" Publisher's Weekly - "Laugh-out-loud funny" Library Journal // Interestingly, it's the same gimmick of no narration, just letters etc., of a book I just read and highly recommend called One Nation Under God by Vincent M. Wales. My teen son, a reluctant reader, did finish it and admit it was ok. If my TBR stack wasn't taller than I am I'd read it, too.
mailed to IL, USA as a RABCK
Woo-hoo...!!! I'm doing a little happy dance...I got a surprise RABCK...I got a surprise RABCK! What a wonderful surprise to find in my mailbox! Thanks so much, cheryl! A BookCrossing friend recommended this to me. Hopefully it won't get too far buried in Mt. TBR, because I really want to read it. YIPPEE!!!! :')
Well, it did get buried in Mt. TBR...but I finally dug it out and read it!
I loved this book. I loved the format, I loved the fact that it was about baseball, and I loved the dynamic between the two main characters. This one will make you laugh, it will make you cry, and it will make you laugh so hard that you WILL cry. I'm off to add more Steve Kluger titles to my wishlist!

Sending off to PBS member. Enjoy! :')
You have found a BookCrossing book! Please take a brief moment to journal your thoughts upon reading this book. Then, if you'd like, re-release the book (to a friend, a stranger, or back out into the wild). That way you can track its travels & its readers throughout the world!

This showed up in a bag of books donated to our library branch for our next used book sale. It's fun to speculate on how this might have found its way to south Minneapolis.
The first nice surprise was finding a BookCrossing book in a bag of book donations for our library's book sale. But the really big surprise was how very good this turned out to be.
It's the story of a growing friendship between a baseball star and a 12-year-old smarty-pants fan, told in letters between the two, with some extras from bemused bystanders. It could have been sentimental, it could have been loaded with cliches. Instead, it's continually sparkling with wit and surprises. For once, the blurb claim that it's "Laugh-Out-Loud Funny" is the honest truth. Even when you're not laughing, you'll have a pleased smile on your face. My DH, famous for an unwillingness to finish book 'A' when he can see books 'B,' "C,' and so forth also available, finished this in two days. We were both sorry to see it come to an end.
But that's just one person's opinion. Future readers, what do YOU think of this book?

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
This is such a delightful book, I was pleased to see that an equally delightful BookCrosser had it on her wish list. Hope you enjoy it as much as DH & I did!
Yay! This funny little book arrived yesterday and I dived right in. It was just the kind of book I needed, after finishing several books with heavier themes!
Thank you so very much for thinking of me. After I finish it, I will introduce it to the rest of the Calgary BookCrossing Community.

What a wonderful book! I've read so many stories set during the WWII era, but this one is such a unique perspective.
Won't divulge any spoilers - but I laughed and I cried and I can't wait to share this with other Calgary BookCrossers.
Thank you so much for gifting me with this RABCK!

Taking to the December meet-up of Calgary BookCrossers, held at Cravings Market Restaurant.
Picked this up at the December Calgary BookCrossing meetup.
I was not expecting to like this book this much. I read it quickly over 2 days of bus rides.
I love the interaction between Joey and Charlie. The letter format for this story works perfectly. Easy recommendation.

Taking to the February Calgary BookCrossing meetup.
Picked up at the February meeting. We had 8 Bookcrossers in attendance and for once I brought home less books than I brought. Yeah me!!!!
