The novel starts promising. However, the second half I found unconvincing.
the book goes to a bookcrosser who deserves a surprise parcel.
What a nice surprise! In the bookshop I hesitated to buy The kiterunner because it had such an ugly cover and unreadable font. The edition that Bookcrosser just sent me looks great. Thank you ever so much for this nice surprise, Bookcrosser! I look forward to reading it over the holidays.

A story with a good plot, that allows the reader a peek into life in Afghanistan. I was not always thrilled with the writing style, which was sometimes too melodramatic, with too many overly explicit explanations. As a reader, I sometimes felt annoyed at not being allowed to draw conclusions and discover relations for myself. Nevertheless a good story, so thank you again, Bookcrosser!
A quote from the second half, where the protagonist travels from the US back to his home country to find the son of the friend he once betrayed:
Then I realized something: That last thought had brought no sting with it. Closing Sohrab’s door, I wondered if that was how forgiveness budded, not with the fanfare of epiphany, but with pain gathering its things, packing up, and slipping away unannounced in the middle of the night.
I will give the book to my friend in Warsaw.
