Journal Entry 1 by teknohog from Jyväskylä, Keski-Suomi Finland on Monday, June 12, 2006
I found the first two books of the saga at Finncon 2004, as I like Card's prose a lot. Finally I decided to give these a try, to see if I like the series enough to get the remaining parts. So far things are looking quite good: this is somewhat typical scifi-flavoured fantasy that reminds me of Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica. It does have many of the elements of fantasy that I could do without, and I believe the saga of five volumes could well be toned down to something like two or three. However, Card has a pretty good style of writing even when nothing much is happening, so at least it makes a nice pastime for a fan of SF. Won't be released quite yet as a friend is reading this at the moment.
