From Publishers Weekly
Wallace, a freelance radio producer for the BBC in London, takes three simple words uttered by a stranger on a bus-"say yes more"-as a challenge and says "yes" to everything for a year. He says "yes" to pamphleteers on the street, the credit card offers stuffing his mailbox and solicitations on the Internet. He attends meetings with a group that believes aliens built the pyramids in Egypt, says "yes" to every invitation to go out on the town and furthers his career by saying "yes" in meetings with executives. The potential for enlightenment and insight into the human condition abounds, yet Wallace doesn't dig deep. Mostly, he covers his relationships with his male friends and former and current girlfriends. While the writing is lively enough-arch and full of colorful British slang-the minutiae of Wallace's world won't fascinate readers as much as it seems to fascinate him. The book is culled from his diary, and it shows: the text is crammed with casual observations and mundane details of everyday life. It meanders through the year, shapeless and slack. Still, Wallace raises an interesting question-if you said "yes" to everything, would you be prepared to deal with the outcome?

I'm surprised to say I couldn't even finish this book! I kept getting annoyed. The author set some pretty impossible rules for himself in the beginning, but he was inconsistent and changed the rules a couple of times. In other words, it was more of an account of an idea and how it evolved, rather than what was promised, which was an account of all the crazy things that happened to someone who strictly said "yes" to all questions asked of him for a year. The former would have been fine, if that were the description of the book. But the thing that was the most annoying to me was how Danny Wallace found Danny Wallace to be so funny and clever. He seemed to be trying too hard. This one just didn't keep my interest, but I was glad to be able to try it out! Thanks for the bookring! It will be mailed to Breeze144 tomorrow.

Finally finished reading this over the weekend! Many apologies for the delay.

I found this book dragged a little, some of Danny's 'Yes' adventures were interesting and exciting but times in between felt dull. I ended up picking up another book to read at the same time, which I rarely do. There were a couple parts that had me laughing, but not nearly as many as 'Join Me!'....but the best part was in the very last pages (don't peek until you've read it all or else it won't be as funny!).

Thanks for sharing, I'll have this out on Tuesday!

I got this last week, but have been babysitting my 11 month old grandaughter while Mom had surgery, so really wasn't able to get on the computer much!

This book was pretty funny. I liked it more than "Join Me" The ending was nice also and the reader was not left wanting more or not knowing what happened. Thanks so much for sharing this book!

I hope this was not sitting in my mail box to long. Because of health issues, I had not checked mail for about a week and a half.

This was a very funny book. My favorite part was the letters back and forth with Omar, especially the letter from Ian. I read it out loud to my husband, who laughed so much that I ended up laughing so hard that I couldn't read it.

Besides being funny, the book has a nice message about being open to new adventures. Sure, Wallace took it to extremes, but the idea is still a good one.

I will be mailing this off to Italy on my next post office run- Friday, Feb. 23rd. If I manage to mail it sooner, I will revise this entry.

A huge thank you to Lorelei03 for sharing this entertaining book.

I rate this book a 7; at first I found it boring but decided to give it a chance and I found out I was right.. I loved the end of this story, a bit obvious I know but I'm Taurus and I like romance...
It also made me realise that I'm a bit of the No type and I'm tryng to say Yes more as Danny did.. it works, I feel happier...

It's running to France...

This was an okay read but I can't say I'm really enthusiastic about it, I found that the book dragged on a bit too much... Anyway, I liked the whole Yes philosophy and it did make me realize I should definitely say Yes more:) Thanks for sharing Lorelei!

Fluffy-owl asked to be skipped so I'll be sending the book to MidlandsGoat on Monday.
