I really want to read this, because what I've read so far is wonderfully written, but it involves losing children and, being a new mom, I can't bear to read very much at a time. (Yes, Atkinson is that good.) I may eventually release so someone else can enjoy and then come back to it in a few years. Funny how motherhood changes everything...

OK, so I finished it. The prose, although good, wasn't Atkinson's best, and a few of the main characters were cliches rather than well-developed. However, the tragedies were believable, and the emotions accompanying them extremely profound--and that alone makes this worth reading.
