I've bought this book after I was through "The Corrections", and, as in the latter, was comparing all the time the troubles somebody in his mid-twenties in Boston goes through when balancing love and labour, to those of a West-European - as far as I could tell. America seems that close in these books, as the strive for an individual way is concerned as well as the regular overtaxing by this kind of demand. I might believe in illusions, but, thanks to Franzen, really greatly told ones.
