Another Ebay bargain from a bulk book purchase. On my TBR pile for now. Looking forward to reading it.

"Beware of beautiful days. Bad things happen on beautiful days. It may be that when you get happy, you get careless. Beware of having a plan. Your gaze is focused on the plan, and that's the moment when things start happening just outside your range of vision ..."

FROM THE COVER:
"Kit Quinn has a job that many would find too disturbing to tackle. Her beat is the world of crime scenes, hospitals for the criminally insane, the grimmer prisons. In her latest assignment, colleagues in the police ask for her help in what initially appears to be a straightforward murder inquiry, in which a youthful runaway has been killed near a London canal. At first, the evidence points to the killer being a man who wounded the murdered young woman, but Kit has learned that the appearance of things in a deceptive world may not be trusted. As she descends deeper and deeper into a brutal underworld of lost and exploited youngsters, she finds herself as at risk as the young victims she is dealing with."

Posted to RockDg9 to start off this (mini) bookring. Enjoy.

Journal Entry 4 by RockDg9 from Toowoomba, Queensland Australia on Sunday, July 16, 2006
Arrived today - I have one other bookring ahead of this, but should get to it shortly as work is currently slow.

Journal Entry 5 by RockDg9 from Toowoomba, Queensland Australia on Wednesday, July 26, 2006
This was a solid mystery. However, I found the main character - Kit - to be unrealistic, and some of the other minor characters were a bit 2-dimensional, which was disappointing. The story was intriguing enough though. It tended to be a bit slow at times, but had enough action to keep it going. And there were a few obvious and irritating technical devices.

Overall, though, despite all that, I *did* enjoy reading this - thanks froggirlwendy for sharing. I have PMd sugaryfun for an address.

Journal Entry 6 by Sugaryfun from Brisbane, Queensland Australia on Wednesday, July 26, 2006
It arrived today, (thanks Rockdg9 and Froggirlwendy) I'll get started on reading it as soon as I can.

I found it hard to believe in police detectives who were as dumb as those in this book (I can't be specific without spoilers). Also, when people called the main character 'Dr Quinn' I kept mentally adding 'Medicine Woman' but that's just my strange brain, and not really a criticism of the book itself. Overall it was a fun, easy read.

I have PM'd AmberC for an address.

Journal Entry 8 by Sugaryfun from Brisbane, Queensland Australia on Monday, September 4, 2006
Apologies for the delay sending this on. It was a combination of PMs not getting first go and me getting a bit overwhelmed by all the assignments I have due soon and forgetting about it. Anyhoo...I sent it this morning, it should arrive soon.

Journal Entry 9 by amberC from Darwin, Northern Territory Australia on Thursday, September 7, 2006
Arrived today...the express envelope made a difference for once. Uni assignments are more important then posting books.

I can't put my finger on why I didn't enjoy this book more, perhaps it was that I didn't care for any of the characters. The heroine, Dr Quinn, was unconvincing and sort of flat. The police were dumb and rude.

For all that it kept me interested and involved and I read it in only 2 days.

A great idea for a story, could have been carried off better.

thanks for sharing froggirlwendy. I will post it back home tomorrow.

Journal Entry 11 by froggirlwendy from Bracken Ridge, Queensland Australia on Tuesday, September 26, 2006
Arrived home today. I'll put it back on my TBR pile for now (which might take me a while to get through) - happy to loan to anyone who might want to read it. Thanks to all :o)
