Journal Entry 1 by Lizabeth86 from Middletown, Connecticut USA on Tuesday, May 30, 2006
FROM THE PUBLISHER Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She's made a mistake so huge, it'll wreck any chance of a partnership. Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she's mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they've hired a lawyer--and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can't sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope--and finds love--is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake. But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does...will she want it back? Reserved for Flicki Mailed surface 8/17/06

Great book if you're just as busy as I am these days. If anybody can understand what having to be a workaholic means, it's us teacher's trainees... . Now I'm only waiting for MY little island of calm! :-) Thanks a lot for sharing, I'll try to swap this for another one on bookrelay.

The book arrived today. Thank you for sharing it in BookRelay, I've been really wanting to read it. I'll put it in my TBR-pile for now. Though, as I read Flicki's comments, it seems like it's made for my current life... :) EDIT ON 10 Oct, 2007: Just a note to say that I started to read this one on Monday (8th Oct.).

Journal Entry 5 by bookwormess from Helsinki, Uusimaa Finland on Sunday, October 14, 2007
I finished with it today. It was quite eventfull, sometimes tens of pages went fast just because there was so much happening. When I received this book, my life was a bit like that: I had to shine in my job, do my thesis and finish the rest of my courses to graduate. I'm so happy it's all behind me. I still work long hours sometimes to get all the workload done, but I do have free weekend and evenings just for me. That is something I've really had to learn to cope with, the idea that I don't have to do anythig. Weird, really. This book was very entertaining and well written. It also tought a lesson: enjoy life. The charachters were really hilarous, my favourite was perhaps Trish who lives in her very own little world. For some reason I kept imaging Eddie as Richard from Gilmore Girls (actor Edward Hermann, plays Rory's grandfather), but that was probably because the setting in the house were quite alike. Thank you all for sharing. Next I'll send this book traveling as part of Holiday Gift Giving 2007. EDIT on 30 Oct, 2007: Put the book in mail on yesterday. Happy Holidays!

I recently tried to read the shopaholic series and totally despised them, I was all set to never attempt to read another Sophie Kinsella book again, but..... I did read this one and I totally loved it, I was so surprised to discover what a great story it was, I cant say I work long hours, nights or ever on the weekend but I really appreciated the moral of this story, to just enjoy life while it is in front of you, to appreciate all the little things and my favorite is that this story teaches us that what someone does for a living does not make them a better or worse person than someone else. A great feel good, spirit lifting, chick lit book, I love it :)

A feel good story of a stressed corporate lawyer who runs away from her life to discover that there is a world outside corporate life. Loads of charm, very readable.
