Great read! See more of my comments here.

Description from the back cover:
Barbara Kingsolver's fifth novel is a hymn to wildness that celebrates the prodigal spirit of human nature, and of nature itself. It weaves together three stories of human love within a larger tapestry of lives amid the mountains and farms of southern Appalachia. Over the course of one humid summer, this novel's intriguing protagonists face disparate predicaments but find connections to one another and to the flora and fauna with which they necessarily share a place.

I've decided to turn this copy into an international bookray!

I am so sorry that I forgot to journal the second time! I really thought I had! I read this book in early July and absolutely loved it, particularly the "Old Chestnuts" thread. I have only read a few other books that use the style of interweaving stories from various characters perspectives, but I always love this technique. It's great to see how two people interpret the same situation completely differently. Anyway, I sent this book along to rebeccajames 10 days ago or so, but I sent it media mail, so it should get there soon. Again, sorry for the delay in journaling!

I just got back from vacation today, and this book was in my mailbox. I have a couple of books before it, so I should be able to get to it in a couple of weeks.

This book arrived last week as part of ring. I'm already more than 1/2 way done. It took me a little while to get used to the three stories, but I am fully hooked now.

I'll be done within the week and will get it sent out to the next person.

Thanks for sharing the book.

Take Care,
Kecia

I apologize, my husband picked up the mail a few days ago, and never brought the package up until now. I ride in transit to work and rarely see the inside of the car otherwise, I would have seen it and registered the book. Anyway, I have the book now, and I am a book and half behind in rings so I will get to this as soon as I can.

Whew, after a very very long rest in my home I am finally finished reading this book. I want to send my utmost sincere apologies for keeping this way way longer than I should have kept it. I had no idea how crazy out of hand health issues can get. Nevertheless, it is getting sorted out, things are slowing down and I have been so lucky to have literally 1-2 hours down time a day to read. I had not had that priviledge in the last six months, I would be lucky to have a half hour before bed time and by that time I would conk out and sleep.

Anyway, this book was so fabulous. I love how Kingsolver included nature with the characters as though nature was a character in the novel. It definitely makes me think twice now when I walk on nature trails and what all is there, or heck even killing a spider in my home. It was so beautiful.

I also loved how the characters are all intertwined with each other. I would sit on my patio with a cup of tea listening to the birds, watching the new birds learn from their moms and read this book at the same time. This book definitely helped me escape from my world for awhile.

Thanks for sharing this book. Time to get the address and send this along.
