A totally retro book that has some classy and at the same time hilarious flower arrangements made with driftwood. This is so cool I may even start a BookRing with it. This is how the Introduction begins:

"Driftwood has "arrived". Its popularity with flower arrangers all over the land has increased tremendously during the past twelve to fifteen years. But the fad is over: driftwood is now a vital and accepted element in arrangements for homes, shows, offices, almost everywhere"

What happened? How did driftwood come out of style when it was here to stay? I hope it comes back...

I caught this book in my mailbox this morning. Thank you for sending it to me GorgeousGlo! I will try to get to this book soon, looks like something my mother would have enjoyed. She was quite crafty and has worked with driftwood before. I will share some pictures of her work.

A very retro cover indeed!

This is a nice book, very retro. My mom worked with driftwood years ago. Do people still work with driftwood? This would be a great book for someone looking to try a different art medium or for someone looking to add something more substantial to their flower arrangements, as it offers some pointers on where to find driftwood, as well as how to preserve and display it.

Thank you for sharing this book GorgeousGlo. I ended up reading it in one sitting, so sorry to have kept it for so long!

Here are some pictures of my mother's driftwood creations...

To be added

I will mail this book out to book-man-8 tomorrow.

Well, this book is retro in many ways, as it was published nearly 50 years ago... ;-) To our present tastes it looks far too "overloaded"; less is more. It was a quick read; I was especially interested, because I did wood sulpture for the past 10 years, now and then also with driftwood. Today people using and working with driftwood are much bolder. Thanks for the ray! The book will travel on as soon as I get an address.

RELEASE NOTES:

This one is off to Australia in the airmail bag. Enjoy!
