Endearing and naive, Verity Bell can't imagine aspiring to more than her job as a secretary. Now her best (and only) friend Sally has found a boyfriend and spends all her time with him - when he's not with his wife. Verity needs to fill up the gaping hole left in her life instead of obsessively listing reasons why Sally should not be with that rat. Then she meets John. He's perfect, wonderful, romantic, and married with children. Verity has never seen his wife, Kate, but she starts to suspect that his excuses for not leaving her are rather poor. But people have been taking advantage of Verity for as long as she can remember.

I have decided to make this into a bookring when I've read it.

This is how it works:

- You will be sending the book to the person who appears after you in the list, so you need to PM them to get their address!
- It's not a race, but please read and send the book on as speedily as you can, other people are dying to read it too.
- Please journal the book once you have received it (so we all know where it currently is) and again when you have read it (so we know what you thought of it!)
- If you're the last person on the list (i.e. we run out of members) the book comes back to me until there are more interested parties...

This was an unusual (but great!!) read, I don't think I have read a book before like it!! It kind of goes through the alphabet with random subjects as the title for letters and then tells the story of Verity?? I got the impression that Verity needs help, but found her memoirs entertaining.

I will now mail the book off to Angellica!

Finished this last night. Was an OK read. Felt like slapping Verity after a while to wake her up a bit!

Quite enjoyed this. Although the story was weak, I thought the style it was told in was clever. Interesting observations scattered throughout. Also found Verity quite endearing - if a bit annoying at times!
