Given to me by my Mum as she's de-cluttering her house.

Synopsis:
June 1940: this was the summer of defeat. Day by day, hour by hour, this work unfolds what men thought and felt and did as France fell. Men who shrugged, men who ran, men who fought and tragic men like Mathieu, riven with remorse, who must somehow learn to kill.

I have been kidding myself for ages that I might read this. I can't see that happening anytime soonest so I'll release it for, hopefully, someone else to enjoy.

A good book, easier to follow than book two in the "series" (The reprieve). A new way of looking at the war, and a really close descriotion of the involved persons.

Will go to my permanent collection for now, but may take a spin eventually...
