What a fun little romp! I'm so glad I finally got a chance to finish reading this at my mother-in-law's place over christmas.

Fandorin is a great character invention. The plot I did find very reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes and I love my Holmes.

Thanks so much. I'll get this off to Xoddam shortly.

I finally read this and I thought it was cute, fun, frivolous and intelligent. Weirdly I kept having flashbacks to the much darker and more "literary" The People''s Act of Love -- the mood is hardly similar but the concepts are, sort of, and ... is it the tone? Is it Russia when it''s being progressive? I don''t know at all, but I''d be interested if anyone else notices the comparison...
