7 out of 10

How could I resist this one? Saw this newly-released book with historical photos from Nashua, the city I live in, dating from its establishment in 1688 under the name Dunstable. (When Massachusetts and New Hampshire became states, the state line cut old Dunstable in two, and for a long time there were two Dunstables side by side, but in 1803 the New Hampshire Dunstable was renamed Nashua - to the relief of the mail carriers, I suspect!)

Lots of wonderful old photographs, usually with an accompanying recent photo of the same area to demonstrate how much change has taken place over the decades. (Could be a great source for a party game - "name this intersection"!) Combined with many tidbits about how streets got named or who made the biggest property deals, this is a book that should interest anyone who likes to see how communities change - and, of course, especially those who ever knew Nashua...

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

I plan to go on today's ArtWalk in downtown Nashua - there have been several before and I've never managed to get to one so this is my chance! (It's basically an opportunity to stroll around the downtown and Millyard areas visiting a variety of art galleries and different types of art shops, from photography to tattooing, with special events taking place here and there.) Since this book's cover shows Main Street from in front of the Hunt Building I'm going to try to leave it somewhere near there, probably at around 4:30, and see if I can get a roughly-corresponding shot...
